Glucose Testing

Smart Sense is a non-invasive salivary glucometer being developed by Medline Robotics. A nano-sensor impregnated strip measures glucose from a simple saliva sample and displays the corresponding blood glucose level on the device and digital healthcare application - no needles, no pricks, no pain.

Today, newborns with glucose disturbances are monitored by pricking the sole of the foot at regular intervals, and diabetic adults prick their fingers several times a day. Smart Sense replaces that pain with painless intermittent monitoring - for neonatal hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in hospitals, and for everyday diabetes management at home.

Salivary glucose levels correlate with blood glucose levels. Smart Sense measures the glucose in saliva with precise nano sensors and converts the reading into its correlative blood glucose value, which is displayed on the device and the app.
Smart Sense is for intermittent monitoring - test whenever needed using a strip. Smart Sync is the continuous variant of the same platform: glucose nano sensors implanted in dental braces monitor salivary glucose around the clock and control an insulin pump for Automated Insulin Delivery (AID). Both are in our development pipeline.
