Cuddle Scan is a continuous temperature monitoring device for newborns and older children being developed by Medline Robotics. An infra-red sensor inserted into a soft, adjustable waist band tracks the child's body temperature continuously and raises an alarm the moment it moves out of the safe range.

Infants and children up to 3 years have immature thermoregulation - they lose and gain heat rapidly, cannot shiver effectively, and cannot tell you when something is wrong. Cuddle Scan watches for them: hypothermia in newborns, rising fever at night, and the sudden spikes that precede febrile seizures - with visual and audio alerts on the device and instant notifications on the parent's phone.
