Fitting Details

These four answers let us check the M1 Leg will fit you properly before we quote. An approximate measurement is fine - our team confirms everything at fitting.

The M1 Leg is rated for a maximum user weight of 140 kg.

  1. Put a sheet of A4 paper flat on the floor, one edge pushed tight against a wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your good foot, heel touching the wall. Put your normal body weight on it.
  3. Ask someone to mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe - for many people this is the second toe, not the big toe.
  4. Step off and measure from the wall edge of the paper to that mark, in centimetres. Pick the closest size above.
Tip: measure in the evening. Feet swell slightly through the day, and a shoe that fits at night fits all day.

  1. Sit on a chair with your residual limb hanging free and your knee bent at about 90°.
  2. With your fingers, find the bottom edge of your kneecap. That is your starting point.
  3. Run a soft measuring tape straight down the front of the limb to the very end of it, including the soft tissue.
  4. Rest the tape lightly on the skin - do not pull it tight or press in. Write down the number in centimetres.
No measuring tape? Lay a piece of string along the limb, pinch it at the end, then measure the string against any ruler or scale.
